Playoffs Day 1 Notes

(Photo from Yahoo)

Well, day #1 of the 2010 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs are over. Here are some notes.....
  • Goaltenders might be the story of this year's playoffs. Here are some interesting numbers;
    • Philadelphia goaltending issues? I'm pretty sure their happy with Brian Boucher at the moment.... as he had a .958 save percentage last night against NJ.
    • Meanwhile, NJ might have issues.... Marty Broduer had a .857 save percentage. He only faced 14 shots and still managed to let in 2 goals.
    • Both Ottawa and Pittsburgh look like they have goalie issues.... Brian Elliott had a .810 save percentage, and Marc-Andre Fleury still managed to do worse, with a .808 save percentage. Not good.
    • On the other side of the country, Jimmy Howard (Detroit, .914 save percentage),  Ilya Bryzgalov (Phoenix, .950 save percentage), Craig Anderson (Colorado, .962 save percentage), and Evgeni Nabokov (San Jose, .933 save percentage) all had good nights.
  • I guess I will say it.... will the Sharks, yet again, CHOKE???
  • Crosby and Malkin both had good nights, but Ottawa's forwards did even better. Depth is key... no where's the Pens depth?
  • Phoenix vs. Detroit will be a long, hard fought series. I hope the 'Yotes prevail.
