Day in Review (4/13/10)

Your daily roundup of news about the Caps & the NHL

Capitals News

  • Nicklas Backstrom is ill, an may not play in Game 1 on Thursday.
  • Bruce Boudreau has named Jose Theodore his playoff starting goalie. Boudreau said that Theodore has a much longer leash this year.
  • EA Sports picks the Chicago Blackhawks to win the Stanley Cup, over Pittsburgh. I might add that they picked Boston last year, and San Jose the year before.
  • Whenever I play NHL 10, it also seems to think Ovechkin-Steckel-Backstrom is the ideal 1st line; maybe it knows something we don't...
  • A nice Alexander Semin interview; Semin thinks the Caps need to finish the 1st round as quickly as possible, and I agree.
  • Some Jose Theodore love from ESPN.
  • More on Theodore; "When Montreal Loved Jose Theodore."
  • Some interesting notes on the playoffs.
  • Cruising into the playoffs? Nope! Caps had the best 2nd-half record, read about it from ESPN.
  • Let the playoff trash talking begin!

In Other News...

  • Marty Turco will not be resigned by the Dallas Stars.
  • The Tampa Bay Lightning fired their GM and coach earlier this week. That was fast.
  • The 2010 NHL Draft Lottery was held Tuesday. Here are the teams with the top 5 picks; Edmonton (#1), Boston (#2, from Toronto), Florida (#3), Columbus (#4), and the NY Islanders (#5).

That's it for today.
