Yesterday’s Scores:

- The Washington Capitals defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning as they cruise to the Eastern Conference #1 seed.
- The Phoenix Coyotes beat the Chicago Blackhawks, 5-4 in the shootout. Phoenix is now only 1 point from the Pacific Division lead.
- The Detroit Red Wings stunned the Vancouver Canucks, 4-3 in OT.
- The Carolina Hurricanes beat the Pittsburgh Penguins, 3-2 in OT.
- The St. Louis Blues shut out the New Jersey Devils, 1-0, as they try for a playoff spot.
- The Buffalo Sabres beat the Florida Panthers, 3-1.
- Jason Spezza’s hat trick was not enough for the Ottawa Senators, as they lost 5-4 to the Dallas Stars.
- The Toronto Maple Leafs, well out of playoff contention, beat the Montreal Canadiens 3-2 in the shootout.
- The Atlanta Thrashers beat the Philadelphia Flyers, 5-2.
- Pekka Rinne had a shut out as the Nashville Predators beat the Columbus Blue Jackets, 1-0 in OT.
- Finally, the Los Angeles Kings shut out the New York Islanders, 1-0.

In other news….

- Not much to say; Ovechkin is tearing up the NHL leader boards, and so is Nicklas Backstrom. Nice.
