Around the Rink (3/19/10)

A primarily Western Conference night as the playoff race starts to heat up over there…

Yesterday’s Scores:

- The Calgary Flames burned the San Jose Sharks, 4-3, as they try to desperately get inside the playoff bubble.
- The Minnesota Wild lost, 4-2, to the Columbus Blue Jackets.
- The Anaheim Ducks beat the NY Islanders, 5-4 in OT.
- Finally, the Edmonton Oilers beat the Detroit Red Wings, 3-2 in the shootout. Edmonton Oil is obviously not the right stuff for Detroit’s playoff race; Detroit is now tied with Calgary for the 8th spot out west.

In Other News:

- Not much today; I’ll just say that 39-year-old Finnish star forward, Teemu Selanne, is only 1 goal away from 600 in his career. Getting 600 is a pretty big achievement, and it’s not clear whether or not Selanne is returning to the NHL next year…. I really hope he gets it!
